royal fascination

Hubby knows that I have always had a fascination with the royals in England and a love for ring pops. So he sent me this. And we watched this this weekend in honor of the upcoming wedding.

The royal fascination started with my Great Grandma who used to write the queen and actually received letters back from her (or maybe just a polite stock letter). Grandma also had books with lots of pictures of the royals. History, tradition, dignity, and courage all come to mind with I think about the queen.

I remember being sad for Charles and Diana when they got divorced and then being glued to the tv when the "Peoples Princess" died.

Now with 2 days, 17 hours and counting a new chapter in the royal fascination continues. I hope William and Kate will be together forever. And I hope that we don't get to know all the details of their lives. I think that is part of the fascination.

I'm pretty sure ring pop love dates back my childhood too.

But when the day is done this is my real royal fascination.

Winter retreat

winter what?! I know, it's just about spring and i'm still talking about winter! It did snow for about 28.5 minutes today....boooooooo

Anywho, winter retreat back in Feburary with the youth group was the bomb.com double click. Seriously. Not only was there night downhill tubing (we made like a 14 person tube train down the hill), we made it to the very exciting broomball final game, the salad bar was fantastico, but the teaching was amazing. The pastor taught from Isaiah 6 reminding us of our small view of God and that so many other things are what we are captivated by. But Isaiah was captivated by the God who created him, realized his crooked way, was washed clean by God, and then he devoted himself to God and served Him. We are made just like Isaiah ........ to see, respond and spread it. The teacher for the weekend, Kempton , closed with this simple song:

"When I was far away, you flew to me
And washed me in your blood.
Now, I am not condemned.
I am your friend 'cause you were the first to love."

sick?

Take this for colds, sinus problems, coughs, sore throats:

1/4 cup honey (I think this is a funny comment about honey: "Considered to be a swiss army knife in the world of alternative medicine."
2 T. Fresh, minced garlic
2 T. horseradish (great for sinus')
Put in the microwave for about 30 seconds just to mix and heat together.

Take a Teaspoon about 3 times a day, or more if you want.

Caution: you may shake your head and do a foot stomp once you swallow :) Try to hold your breath.

bunting, banana creme pie & juice

I love birthdays. And Last wednesday was Lovey's birthday. I am pretty sure I was more excited than he, but he was a good sport. It started out with bunting. I love, love, love bunting. To me it says PARTY! I crafted a new bunting for Rob's birthday with blue/green plaid and it went up Wednesday, Feb. 9th and it's still up, Feb 15. I'm in no hurry to take it down. Wednesday's are super busy for both of us and his birthday fell on a Wednesday. My day usually starts at 6:00 am for me and he doesn't get home until 10:00 pm. But we made a birthday dinner happen with Beef Taquitos (an easy to eat version of taco's, great for kids, we ended up liking them a lot!) , mexican rice , and homemade banana creme pie ( his request) and with a few of my nieces and we had one enthusiastic rendition of "Happy Birthday". Kids are great like that.

Saturday rolled around and we had a juicing party to celebrate with friends. Juicing parties are great and interactive. Everyone brings a fruit or veggie, they juice it once they get to the party, then you mix and match a juice concoction. FUN!! On the menu, I had homemade hummus and baked pita chips (super easy, cut, coat with evoo, sea salt, bake 10 mins @400, waaaaa laaaa). This is the second time I have made this recipe. A winner. Other eats included a warm cheese ball, a cheese board with butterkase (our fav), asiago, grapes, smoked almonds, crackers and bread. We got to sing happy birthday again. I put a candle in one of the whoopie pies that I made as a treat. I had never had a whoopie pie before we went on our Honeymoon. While we were in San Fran on our way back form Hawaii, my sweet tooth acted up after a long day of walking so we had a whoopie pie for dessert before dinner. We got the pie for a super cute bakery, one you would imagine to be in big cities. Rob and I shared one and his comment about it was "you need to learn how to make these!"

Happy birthday Love! I'm glad your my husband!

chicken!

mmmmm organic chicken from mom and dad's farm raised chickens. So much goodness that I couldn't waste any of it! Cooked the frozen chicken with all the fixins (water, onions, lots of garlic, organic/no msg chicken base, carrots) all day Monday in the crockpot and had sides of jasmine rice and carrots with it for dinner. Fix it and forget it....loves it!

Then the creating of the bone broth. So easy, frugal and soooo good for you. Leave in the crockpot all the drippings, gizzards, bones, ect , add 8 cups of waters, and simmer on low over night (8-12 hours) and waaaaa laaaa, Bone Broth! I store the broth in two mason jars, with a little bit of head room, and freeze them. Next time I want or need to make the chicken soup that has lots of healing benefits around cold and flu time, bam! I got it yo!

And left overs.......Can't forget these little gems! Chicken salad or sandwiches as long as the chicken will last. Around 6-7 sandwiches. Scrumtrulescent!

***My hubby's b-day was yesterday! Lots to share about all the festivities this week!!

weekend update with lindy

Busy weekend. Shopping Saturday with my mom to prepare for our youth group super bowl party (and their families). We had 27 people for our first big bash since being married. I prepared a nacho dip and chicken wings and the rest of the peeps brought yummies too. My favorite treat brought was "clown vomit". Think a heap of popcorn and sugary jello drizzled over a the popcorn. Genius. Reminded me of popcorn balls that i used to take every year to school as my birthday treat! Mine would always be grape though. Thanks Jennifer for the memories :) There were a few dedicated fans who actually watched the game. The rest of us were upstairs talking, playing games, laughing at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jky4Ysw6FT8 , and eating. And I am glad that Green Bay won, mostly because our states are neighbors.

Inspired to love him more

I feel like I have been on my honeymoon all week. Monday we talked, I felt better, he felt better (He is so forgiving). Tuesday, I read a new blog and it inspired me to love hubbilicious more with my words. So I wrote two secret notes for him to find and I prepared a cut up grapefruit for him this morning (it's hard to get much out of me in the mornings). We laughed a lot this week. Especially when I bet him my whole months allowance to run out into the deep snow and make a snow angel. He convinced me to go too. He also said I don't have to pay him.
